IGCSE Mathematics

Outstanding education

The Mathematics course develops mathematical understanding as a key life skill.

The IGCSE course aims to:

  • Encourage enjoyment, confidence and curiosity in all students.
  • Encourage application of mathematical knowledge and skills to real life situations and the wider world.
  • Develop creativity and resilience in mathematical problem solving.
  • Develop the ability to reason logically, make inferences and draw accurate conclusions.
  • Develop a feel for numbers and an ability to interpret results.
  • Develop mathematical fluency and a clear understanding of the connections between different topics.
  • Develop effective mathematical communication.
  • Provide a basis for further study of mathematics.

The IGCSE course develops mathematical understanding as a key life skill and as a solid foundation for those students who wish to continue with the study of mathematics beyond IGCSE. Students develop competence and fluency with mathematical concepts, skills and methods and are able to apply these to solve problems and to interpret results.

Assessment is through two examinations.
