The Milverton Method

What your child will work on

Each student follows their own personalised learning pathway based on their diagnostic starting point. But across the programme, sessions will typically cover the five core areas of maths:

  • Number — fluency with calculation, fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Algebra — expressions, equations, sequences and patterns
  • Geometry and measure — shape, angles, area, volume and units
  • Ratio and proportion — scaling, rates and proportional reasoning
  • Statistics and probability — interpreting data and understanding chance

Teaching is always adapted to each student's level. Whether your child needs to consolidate foundations or push further ahead, the programme meets them exactly where they are.

"The feedback was much more detailed than I expected and it's given me a very clear picture of how my son is progressing in maths - far more comprehensive than reports from his school. I wasn't expecting it to compliment his school work as much as it has and he said the additional classes helped him in a recent test at school."

Year 8 Parent

"My son came away positive and with greater confidence. Just the ability to be able to ask the teacher and also get realtime feedback has been invaluable at this stage in his schooling."

Year 8 Parent

"The progress reports are brilliant - not too long but comprehensive enough."

Year 8 Parent

The teacher is brilliant - it has been such a privilege for my son to be able to have a qualified and experienced teacher present to answer and work through anything he doesn't understand.

Year 8 Parent

"I'm very grateful that my son has had the opportunity to attend these sessions and that he's been privileged to do so. I think year 8 is a great opportunity to hone the mathematical fundamentals in order to build on these ahead of GCSEs. It's given my son more confidence but also reassurance that if he doesn't know something, he can easily ask an experienced teacher for an explanation."

Questions about the maths programme

How does the programme fit around school?

Sessions are scheduled to fit around school hours. We will confirm available session times when you reserve a place — and for families in different time zones, we will always try to find something that works for you.

Is this GCSE exam preparation?

Not specifically — though GCSE students will absolutely benefit. The Milverton Method is designed to build genuine understanding and consistency in maths alongside school, rather than drilling for a specific exam. The result is students who are better prepared for any assessment.

My child is already doing well in maths. Is this still relevant?

Absolutely. The personalised pathway means students who are already performing strongly are stretched further — not held back by the pace of a class. Many of our students join not because they are struggling, but because they want to go further.

What if my child finds it too easy or too hard?

The intelligent learning platform adapts continuously to how your child is performing. If they are finding something too straightforward, it moves them on. If they need more time on a concept, it gives them that. The teacher monitors this in real time and can intervene if needed.

Can we try it before committing to a subscription?

The free diagnostic is the best first step — it gives you a clear picture of where your child is right now and what they need. From there, a conversation with us will help you decide whether the programme is the right fit.

What happens if we want to cancel?

We ask for one month's notice. There is no long-term contract — the programme runs on a monthly subscription and you are in control of when you join and when you leave.
