Safeguarding

“The safeguarding of children and young people is everyone’s responsibility"

We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people. Our commitment to safeguarding and promoting their welfare is shared by everyone at Milverton.

The measures we have in place to ensure a secure learning environment are summarised below:

  1. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): We have a designated safeguarding lead who oversees the implementation of our policy and acts as the main point of contact for any concerns.

  1. Safer Recruitment: We conduct thorough background checks and follow robust recruitment procedures for all staff and volunteers, ensuring their suitability to work with children.

  1. Online Safety: We have an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) that sets guidelines for responsible online behaviour. We employ filtering and monitoring systems to restrict access to harmful content. Students receive regular education on digital citizenship.

  1. Reporting and Responding to Concerns: We have clear procedures for reporting safeguarding concerns, which are addressed promptly. We follow guidelines from relevant authorities and have a whistleblowing policy in place.

  1. Staff Training and Support: Our staff members receive regular safeguarding training to enhance their skills and knowledge in identifying and responding to concerns.

  1. Confidentiality: We treat safeguarding concerns with utmost confidentiality and share information on a need-to-know basis, complying with data protection regulations.

  1. Partnership with Parents and Carers: We value the collaboration with parents and carers, keeping them informed and encouraging open communication regarding safeguarding matters.

  1. Regular Review: Our policy is regularly reviewed and updated to align with changing legislation and best practices.
